The Toothpaste Challenge- This Teaches the Power that our Words have .
As you go about your daily activities with your children, tie in real life experiences to God’s point of view. Imagine this scenario of Jim Weidmann’s:
There is toothpaste all over the plastic covered table. 4 young kids are having the time of their lives squeezing the paste out of the tube–trying to get out every last drop like Dad had told them to. Finally Dad says “OK, ” slapping down a $20 dollar bill onto the table. “The first person to get the toothpaste back into their tube gets this money.” Little hands begin working to shove the peppermint pile back into rolled up tube—with limited success. “WE CAN’T DO IT DAD!” protests the youngest child. Dad says, “The Bible tells us that this is just like your tongue. Once the words come out, it’s impossible to get them back in. You need to be careful of what you say because you may wish you could take it back.” An unforgettable impression is made! Mom’s & Dad’s, impression points occur every day of our lives! Let’s be intentional about teaching our children.
IDEA:Toothpaste challenge. This idea was found in a great book I recommend by Focus on the Family. An Introduction to Family Nights Tool Chest, by Jim Weidmann.
